Choosing a Color Picker to Use (Part 1)

One of the first preference choices in Photoshop is the way you will select or create custom colors.  While both the Mac and PC supply a color picker you may be best by using Adobe's version. In part one we go over the PC and Adobe color picker and briefly present Apple's version.

The Photoshop CS3 Website has been replaced by a new CS4 Website and is no longer available.  Below is a screen shot of just a portion of the older site the contained a Flash video of the Biomedical Image Advisory Group members as well as other BMIAG links. The introduction of the Extended version of Photoshop added features that made Photoshop even more useful to Biomedical Professionals even though Photoshop has been used by clinicians and researchers since the introduction of Photoshop Version 1.

Let me help you using my 20 years biological research experience, formal business training, and passion for imaging software to solve your problems. Learn how to use Photoshop properly in your research better. Overcome image aquisition limitations, collect data, and create outstanding output that comunicates your findings and take your work to the next level.
I conduct workshops, either hands on training or lectures, for groups of all sizes and experience levels. My current work involves the training and development of workflows based on using Photoshop, associated software and hardware.

Photoshop CS3 Extended for Biomedical Research is available at lynda.com. You can subscribe to have access to all of lynda.com training content or simply purchase the training DVD. It is also available through Amazon

This training introduces using Photoshop for biomedical imaging research. I demonstrate Adobe's newest version of Photoshop, CS3 Extended, and how it can be applied in research. I show how to use Photoshop CS3's selection, analysis, and editing tools to evaluate an image's color composition, modify images for research, optimize exposure with levels and curves, transform images with layers, and compensate for acquisition problems and limitations. I also explain how to add reference information to images, annotate and optimize DICOM animations, and share finished images with colleagues. Images come from a variety of sources; scanners, microscopes, and autoradiographic imaging  equipment.

Premium lynda.com members have access to the exercise files.

My second title Photoshop CS3 Extended Research Methods and Workflows is now available as an online tutorial at lynda.com. The DVD is also available direct from lynda and Amazon

In Photoshop CS3 Extended Projects: Research Methods and Workflows, I show how to use Photoshop CS3 for collecting research data. I teach evaluating gel images, gathering penetration model samples, and analysis of autoradiographs. I also demonstrate how to create and apply a standard curve. Exercise files accompany the course.
